RAMALLAH, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian Authority's presidential spokesman on Friday called on the U.S. administration to intervene "immediately and decisively" to pressure Israel to halt its military operations across the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the spokesman for the Palestinian Authority presidency, warned that Israel's continued military operations, including in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, "will not bring security or stability to anyone, nor will they grant legitimacy to any measures taken by the occupation authorities."
He cited Israeli military activity in several West Bank areas, noting a raid in the city of Tubas for the third consecutive day, alongside ongoing operations in Jenin and its refugee camp, as well as in Tulkarm and its camps. These actions, he said, would keep the region trapped in a cycle of violence.
Abu Rudeineh accused the Israeli government of "defying the entire world" through incessant violations of international law and United Nations resolutions. He argued that such actions undermine efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and eliminate any chance of launching a political process for regional stability.
He reiterated his call for the U.S. to compel Israel to end its "open-ended war against the Palestinian people" and to stop settler violence, which he said threatens to ignite the region and undermine U.S. efforts to reduce tensions.
The spokesman concluded by reiterating the Palestinian position that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Palestinian homeland and state, and that its unity with the West Bank and East Jerusalem is "a fixed and non-negotiable right." Enditem
