NEW DELHI -- The Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage at its 20th regular session decided to transfer China's "Hezhen Yimakan storytelling" from the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
At the same time, based on the effectiveness of the protection of this heritage project, the committee decided to include the safeguarding program for Hezhen Yimakan storytelling in the Register of Good Safeguarding Practices. (India-UNESCO-China)

TOKYO -- Japan's Defense Ministry said Thursday its Air Self-Defense Force (ASDF) held a joint air exercise with the U.S. military the previous day over the Sea of Japan.

ISLAMABAD -- Two children were killed and 16 others injured when a mortar shell exploded at a seminary in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police sources said on Thursday.
The blast happened at about 2:00 p.m. local time (0900 GMT) in North Waziristan district of the province on Monday, where some students brought in a mortar shell they had found outside the seminary and mistook it for a toy, the sources told Xinhua. (Pakistan-Blast)

HONG KONG -- The Fire Services Department (FSD) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government on Thursday posthumously conferred the honorary title of Senior Fireman on the late Ho Wai-ho, who died in the Tai Po fire, in recognition of his exemplary service and selfless dedication to duty.
