ANKARA/TRIPOLI -- Libya's army chief of staff, Mohammed al-Haddad, and four other military officials were killed when their business jet crashed south of Ankara on Tuesday evening, Libyan and Turkish authorities said.
Turkish gendarmerie units located the wreckage of the Falcon 50 jet near Kesikkavak village in Ankara's Haymana district, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said. Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah later confirmed the deaths in a statement. (Libya-Officials-Plane Crash-Türkiye)

RAMALLAH -- Israel's decision to establish 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank is a "dangerous step" aimed at tightening control over Palestinian territory, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
The move extends "the policies of apartheid," undermines the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, and destroys "any real prospect of stability," the ministry said in a statement on social media. BAGHDAD -- Iraq has lost 4,000-4,500 megawatts of electricity generation after Iran completely suspended gas supplies, the Iraqi Electricity Ministry said Tuesday.
In a post on Facebook, the ministry said the suspension followed an Iranian notification citing emergency circumstances. It added that it is coordinating with the Iraqi Oil Ministry to use local alternative fuels to keep most power plants operational despite the shortage. (Iraq-Iran-Gas-Supplies)

ADEN, Yemen -- Yemen's internationally recognized government and the Houthi group have agreed to a new swap involving nearly 3,000 detainees in total, including seven Saudis and 23 Sudanese nationals, officials from both sides said on Tuesday.
Abdul Qader al-Murtada, head of the Houthis' committee for prisoner affairs, said on social media platform X that the deal includes the release of 1,700 Houthi detainees in exchange for 1,200 government-affiliated detainees, as well as seven Saudi nationals and 23 Sudanese nationals held by the Houthis.
