KABUL, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- The construction of a vital bridge in Afghanistan's Kabul has been completed and opened to traffic, the Ministry of Public Works announced on Wednesday.
Built at a cost of 60 million afghanis (about 907,800 U.S. dollars) over nine months, the 56-meter bridge was fully financed through the domestic budget, according to the ministry's statement.
The Afghan government intends to initiate further development and infrastructure projects using domestic funding throughout the poverty-stricken nation, with the goals of addressing economic challenges and generating employment opportunities. Enditem
