MOSCOW, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- New car sales in Russia dropped 19 percent in 2025 from the previous year, while domestically produced vehicles strengthened their position in the market, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade said Monday.
A total of 1,495,761 new vehicles (up to three years old) were sold nationwide in 2025, down from 1,835,907 units in 2024, according to the ministry's website.
Sales of Russian-made vehicles exceeded 831,200 units, up 0.2 percent year-on-year, while sales of imported vehicles plunged 34 percent to about 664,500 units.
By segment, passenger car sales reached 1,316,789 units, down 15 percent from 2024. The light commercial vehicle segment declined by 24 percent, truck sales fell by 53 percent, and bus sales dropped by 31 percent. Enditem
