KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad will remain hospitalized for several weeks over a fractured hip following a fall earlier on Tuesday, according to his press secretary.
"After medical assessment, it has been confirmed that (he) suffered a fracture to the right hip. (He) is expected to be admitted for the next few weeks for treatment and observation," the secretary said in a brief statement following Mahathir's initial hospitalization on Tuesday morning.
The two-term prime minister has been hospitalized several times in recent years. Having a history of heart problems, he has undergone bypass surgeries. Enditem
