KABUL, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Local authorities inaugurated a series of public welfare projects in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province on Tuesday, reported the official news agency Bakhtar on Wednesday.
Constructed at a cost of 36 million afghani (around 549,862 U.S. dollars), the projects, which included asphalting roads, reconstruction of streets and building pathways, have been implemented in the provincial capital Lashkar Gah, the official news agency added.
The provincial government, in cooperation with the Lashkar Gah municipality, would continue to build more welfare and development projects, the news agency cited local officials as saying. Enditem
