HONG KONG -- The final death toll of the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po of Hong Kong has been confirmed at 168, Chris Tang Ping-keung, secretary for security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, said on Thursday.

Tang said that all bodies and remains from the fire have been identified and all missing persons have been accounted for, confirming that the death toll is final and will not be updated further. (HK-Fire-Gov't)

TOKYO -- Japan's main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDPJ) and Komeito agreed to form a new centrist party, leaders of both parties announced on Thursday.

The agreement was reached during talks between CDPJ leader Yoshihiko Noda and Komeito leader Tetsuo Saito on Thursday afternoon as the two parties seek to put up a united front against the conservative ruling coalition of the Liberal Democratic Party and the Japan Innovation Party in the looming House of Representatives election. BANGKOK -- Two people were killed and two others sustained injuries after a construction crane collapsed onto a highway in Thailand on Thursday, authorities said.
