DAVOS, Switzerland -- European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Monday that the sovereignty of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark must be "unequivocally" respected, stressing that the issue is of "utmost importance" to the transatlantic relationship as U.S. tariff threats add fresh strain to ties.
Von der Leyen made the remarks in a post on social media platform X after meeting a bipartisan delegation from the U.S. Congress on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

UNITED NATIONS -- UN humanitarians on Monday expressed concern over the holding of the Oct. 10 Gaza ceasefire and the obstacles to aid distribution.
"The ceasefire agreement -- which has crossed the 100-day mark -- must hold so that more civilian lives can be saved," said the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). BOGOTA -- At least 26 people were killed during intense clashes between armed factions in Colombia's Guaviare department, the Colombian army said Monday.
Ricardo Roque, commander of the National Army's Fourth Division, told local media that troops recovered 26 bodies in the municipality of El Retorno, following fighting between rival armed factions. (Colombia-Armed Groups-Clashes)

SOFIA -- Bulgarian President Rumen Radev announced on Monday that he will submit his resignation on Tuesday, paving the way for his eligible participation in the country's upcoming snap parliamentary elections.
"Tomorrow, I will submit my resignation from the post of President of the Republic of Bulgaria," Radev said in an address to the Bulgarian people.
Indicating that he will participate in the early parliamentary elections, Radev said: "We have a battle ahead for the future of the fatherland and I believe that we will fight it together with all of you -- the worthy, the inspired, and the uncompromising.
