TOKYO, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Japan's new opposition party Centrist Reform Alliance held a convention on Thursday to mark its official launch ahead of the Feb. 8 lower house general election.
The new party was formed last week between the main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDPJ) and the Komeito party, seeking to defeat the conservative ruling bloc led by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's Liberal Democratic Party in the upcoming contest. Enditem
