MANILA -- The City Council of Tabaco City in Albay province on Luzon island in the Philippines approved the declaration of a state of calamity on Tuesday, following the continued unrest of Mayon Volcano.

City officials said the city has evacuated a total of 489 families, or 1,787 residents, from communities within the volcano's 6-km permanent danger zone. SEOUL -- South Korea's military said the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Tuesday fired several unidentified projectiles toward the East Sea.

South Korea's military said in a statement that it detected several unidentified ballistic missiles launched by DPRK toward the East Sea at around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday (local time). The missiles were fired from areas north of Pyongyang and flew approximately 350 kilometers. (South Korea-DPRK-Missile)

JAKARTA -- The death toll from the landslide that struck Pasirlangu Village in Cisarua Sub-district, West Bandung Regency of Indonesia's West Java Province, last Saturday has risen to 48, with 30 victims already identified, local media reported on Tuesday.

Local media quoted the West Java Police as saying that the Disaster Victim Identification post at the disaster site has received a total of 48 body bags evacuated by the joint search and rescue team.
