SEOUL, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Earnings of South Korea's chipmaker SK hynix hit a record high last year, driven by strong sales of memory chips used in generative artificial intelligence (AI) chipsets, the company said Wednesday.
The company's revenue surged 46.8 percent from a year earlier to reach an all-time high of 97.15 trillion won (68.1 billion U.S. dollars) in 2025.
Its operating profit more than doubled to hit a new high of 47.21 trillion won (33 billion dollars), and the net income also more than doubled to 42.95 trillion won (30.1 billion dollars).
For the October-December quarter of 2025, the revenue soared 66.1 percent to 32.83 trillion won (23 billion dollars) compared to the same quarter of 2024.
The operating profit skyrocketed 137.2 percent to 19.17 trillion won (13.4 billion dollars), and the net income jumped 90.4 percent to 15.25 trillion won (10.7 billion dollars) in the fourth quarter.
Both the revenue and the profit set new quarterly highs. The fourth-quarter operating margin touched 58 percent, topping the previous high of 57 percent tallied in the third quarter of 2018.
The company said growth momentum accelerated further in the fourth quarter thanks to robust demand for high bandwidth memory chips for AI chipsets as well as conventional memory chips for servers. Enditem
