RIGA -- A Canadian soldier serving in the NATO Multinational Brigade Latvia died near Riga on Thursday, the Latvian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.
The soldier has been identified as Sebastian Halmagean, a gunner from the Royal Canadian Artillery. He had served in the Canadian Armed Forces for nearly three years. This was his first overseas deployment. (Latvia-Canada-Soldier Death)

TEHRAN -- At least one person was killed and 14 others wounded in an explosion at an eight-story residential building in Iran's southern port city of Bandar Abbas on Saturday afternoon, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.

ABUJA -- Multiple people were feared killed and others injured after a suspected Boko Haram terrorist attack on a group of laborers in Nigeria's northeastern state of Borno, multiple sources said Friday.
