BERLIN, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Monday that transatlantic relations have changed and "nostalgia or memories of old times" would not help Europe.
Speaking at the annual reception of Deutsche Boerse Group, Merz said the world is currently experiencing "probably the greatest phase of political uncertainty and instability, certainly a profound turning point."
Facing such global turbulence, he called on Europe to act in a "united and determined manner" to exert its influence in the world.
Europe must rely on its own strength to bolster defense capabilities, enhance economic competitiveness and achieve greater technological independence, Merz added. Enditem
