TRIPOLI, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, a son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, was reported killed during an armed clash in the Al-Hamadah area of southwestern Libya, local media said Tuesday.
Abdullah Othman, an adviser to Saif al-Islam and head of his political team, announced the death in a post on Facebook but gave no details about the timing or circumstances.
Saudi-owned Al Arabiya reported that Saif al-Islam was shot by four assailants who fled after opening fire on him in his garden. The reports could not be independently verified.
Saif al-Islam, the former Libyan leader's second son, has remained a prominent political figure since the collapse of his father's rule in a NATO-backed uprising in 2011. Enditem
