BANGKOK -- Thailand's stock investor confidence continued to improve in January, bolstered by fund inflows amid concerns over international conflicts and domestic political uncertainty, a survey showed on Wednesday.

The investor confidence index, which predicts market conditions over the next three months, stood at 165.37 last month, up from 156.6 in the December 2025 survey and advancing to the "very bullish" zone, according to the Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations. KUALA LUMPUR -- Petronas LNG Ltd (PLL), a subsidiary of Malaysia's state-owned oil and gas firm Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), has signed a 20-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) sale and purchase agreement with QatarEnergy, marking the first long-term LNG supply agreement between the two companies.

Petronas said in a statement on Wednesday that under the agreement, PLL will offtake up to 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG from QatarEnergy over a period of 20 years. (Malaysia-QatarEnergy-Cooperation)

VIENTIANE -- Although slightly lower than the previous year, traffic accidents in Laos remained deadly in 2025, with 6,779 incidents causing 10,464 injuries and 917 deaths nationwide.

These road accidents resulted in 12,158 vehicles being damaged. Compared to 2024, the number of accidents slightly decreased from 6,789, while injuries and fatalities also fell from 10,312 and 929, respectively. (Laos-Road Accidents)

MANILA -- The Philippine Coast Guard has deployed its technical wreck divers to search inside the sunken ferry off Basilan province in the southern Philippines as the confirmed death toll rose to 45, officials said.
