RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Palmeiras has reached an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Colombia international midfielder Jhon Arias, according to widespread media reports.
The 28-year-old will be tied to the Brazilian Serie A club until 2030 after Wolves reportedly accepted a transfer fee of 25 million euros.
Arias is due to arrive in Sao Paulo in the coming days to undergo a medical and finalize contractual terms, news outlet Globo Esporte said.
The parties signed a pre-contract on Thursday after the midfielder's former club Fluminense opted not to exercise its right of first refusal.
Arias made 26 appearances across all competitions for Wolves after joining the Premier League club from Fluminense in July for 17 million euros.
Palmeiras boss Abel Ferreira has prioritized the signing of a new midfielder to replace Raphael Veiga, who will spend the rest of the year on loan at Mexico's Club America. Enditem
