Among the controversial measures approved, the cabinet ordered the repeal of a Jordanian-era law that banned land sales to Jews, removed the requirement for special transaction permits, and renewed a state land acquisition committee that ceased operating around 20 years ago, read a statement from the office of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a key pro-settlement minister in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet. DAMASCUS -- Syria's authorities said Sunday rescue teams continued large-scale response operations late Saturday after heavy rainfall triggered flash floods across several western and northwestern provinces, causing casualties, displacement and widespread damage to civilian areas.

TEHRAN -- Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said Sunday that indirect talks will continue if Iran comes to the conclusion that the United States has the "necessary seriousness" to reach a negotiated solution to Tehran's nuclear issue.

BEIRUT -- Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health expressed "great surprise" on Sunday following Kuwait's announcement that it had added eight Lebanese hospitals to its national terrorism sanctions list.
