KABUL, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have launched a road construction project in Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, the official Bakhtar news agency reported on Wednesday.
The project includes the construction and asphalt paving of a 2.9-km road with a width of 9.7 meters. The total cost of the project is estimated at 75 million afghanis (about 1.1 million U.S. dollars), according to the report.
The construction work is scheduled to be completed within 14 months in accordance with standard engineering requirements and will be handed over for public use upon completion, the report said.
