India's forex reserves rise by over 8.6 bln USD

NEW DELHI, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- India's foreign exchange (forex) reserves increased by 8.7 billion U.S. dollars to 725.7 billion dollars during the week ended on Feb. 13, according to weekly data released by the central bank, the Reserve Bank of India, on Friday.

In the preceding week, forex reserves had fallen by over 6.7 billion dollars.

The central bank's data also revealed that the forex reserves' main component, the foreign currency assets, rose by 3.6 billion dollars to 573.6 billion dollars, while gold reserves increased by 5.0 billion dollars to 128.5 billion dollars.

According to the central bank, special drawing rights increased by 103 million dollars to 18.9 billion dollars, and India's reserves position in the International Monetary Fund improved by 19 million dollars to 4.7 billion dollars. Enditem
