Vietnam's aviation sector serves nearly 2.6 mln passengers during Lunar New Year travel rush

HANOI, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's aviation sector handled nearly 2.6 million passengers during the Lunar New Year peak period, Vietnam News Agency reported on Tuesday, citing the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

The figure represented a year-on-year increase of 15.9 percent, the report said.

During the period, more than 1.1 million passengers traveled on domestic routes while nearly 1.5 million passengers flew on international routes.

Noi Bai International Airport in the capital Hanoi recorded a single-day high of over 137,700 passengers on Feb. 22.

Meanwhile, Tan Son Nhat International Airport in southern Ho Chi Minh City also set a record on the same day, serving more than 182,900 passengers. Enditem
