Poll shows Joan Laporta likely to be re-elected as FC Barcelona President

MADRID, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Joan Laporta looks to be on track to being reelected as President of FC Barcelona, according to a poll published by the Barcelona-based sports newspaper El Mundo Deportivo on Wednesday.

The poll, which is published just under three weeks before the election for the FC Barcelona presidency, gives Laporta an estimated 58.66 percent of the vote, ahead of 20.33 percent for his main rival, Victor Font, while the other two candidates, Marc Ciria and Xavi Vijajoana have 7.33 percent and 1.33 percent respectively.

The poll shows that Laporta has actually gained support since he returned to the FC Barcelona presidency in March 2021 with 54.28 percent of the votes cast.

Barcelona is currently top of La Liga ahead of Real Madrid and will compete in the last-16 of the Champions League. Enditem
