KIEV, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine will receive its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment via the Klaipeda terminal in Lithuania, Ukraine's state-owned gas operator Naftogaz Group said on Thursday.
Naftogaz, in cooperation with Lithuania's state-controlled energy group Ignitis Group, has secured the supply of 90 million cubic meters of LNG to be delivered throughout February and March, according to a company statement.
The gas will be transported through the Klaipeda LNG terminal, with Naftogaz arranging delivery to Ukraine independently, it said.
Naftogaz Chief Executive Officer Sergii Koretskyi said that opening the route via Klaipeda marks another step toward diversifying Ukraine's gas supply channels amid ongoing attacks on its energy infrastructure. Enditem
