MANILA, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines' total external trade in goods increased by 0.9 percent in January this year to 18.24 billion U.S. dollars from 18.07 billion dollars in January 2025, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said on Friday.
Of the total external trade in January 2026, the agency said 61.1 percent were imported goods, while the remaining 38.9 percent were exported goods.
The PSA said the balance of trade in goods, the difference between export and import values, in January 2026 amounted to -4.05 billion dollars, indicating a trade deficit with an annual decline of 17.8 percent.
China was the Philippines' largest supplier of imported goods, while the United States contributed the highest export value in January. Enditem
