PARIS, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The French Foreign Ministry on Friday issued a security advisory for French nationals against travel to Israel, Jerusalem and the West Bank.

In a statement, the ministry said that in light of the security situation in Iran and its possible local repercussions, travel to Israel, Jerusalem and the West Bank remains discouraged, including for tourism and family visits.

It warned that, depending on developments in the regional situation and the possibility of airspace closures, flight cancellations and delays could occur, and urged French nationals to contact their airlines should security conditions deteriorate.

The ministry also said that French citizens currently present in the affected areas should exercise heightened vigilance and caution, avoid any demonstrations or gatherings, and identify shelters.

Tensions have escalated in recent days as senior U.S. officials have repeatedly warned of possible military intervention against Iran. Iran has said it would retaliate against U.S. military facilities in the region if attacked. Enditem
