NEW DELHI, March 2 (Xinhua) -- India has issued an advisory to its maritime community, urging seafarers and shipping stakeholders to remain alert and strictly follow official guidance while operating in the Middle East amid rising tensions, officials said Sunday.
The advisory issued by the Directorate General of Shipping in Mumbai has advised Indian seafarers to exercise utmost caution and adhere to instructions issued by the foreign ministry and its Indian embassy in Tehran.
The maritime regulator also called on shipping companies and related stakeholders to closely monitor the safety and well-being of Indian crew members operating in the region and to promptly report any pertinent developments to the authorities.
The ongoing joint airstrikes by the United States and Israel on Iran and the retaliatory actions have led to an escalation of the situation in the region. Enditem
