RIO DE JANEIRO, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Former England midfielder Jesse Lingard arrived in Brazil on Sunday ahead of an expected move to Corinthians.
The 33-year-old has signed a pre-contract that will tie him to Corinthians until the end of the year, with the club expected to confirm the signing after a medical on Monday, according to Globo Esporte.
"I will speak later," Lingard told reporters after arriving at Sao Paulo's Guarulhos international airport.
When asked if he was happy with his decision to join Corinthians, Lingard replied: "Of course, of course. Go Corinthians."
Lingard, who has 32 England caps, is a free agent after parting ways with FC Seoul in January.
At Corinthians, he will be reunited with striker Memphis Depay, with whom he played at Manchester United in 2015 and 2016.
Corinthians is currently third in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings, three points behind leader Palmeiras. Enditem
