RIO DE JANEIRO, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Venezuelan midfielder Jose Martinez bid farewell to Corinthians on Tuesday, more than two weeks after his contract was rescinded by the Brazilian Serie A club.
The 31-year-old posted a video on social media in which he expressed gratitude to his teammates and the club's fans.
"Thank you for everything, Corinthians! To the fans: never doubt my dedication and my love for these colors. Go Corinthians."
Corinthians terminated Martinez's contract last month after he returned late from his vacation with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
The Venezuela international underwent surgery last week and is expected to be sidelined for eight to 10 months.
Martinez made 70 appearances for Corinthians following his August 2024 move from Philadelphia. Enditem
