BUENOS AIRES, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Forward Miguel Merentiel from Uruguay scored twice to help Boca Juniors arrest a recent form slump with a 3-0 away win over Lanus in Argentina's Apertura tournament on Wednesday.
Santiago Ascacibar gave the visitors the lead by controlling a loose ball with his chest before volleying a 20-yard drive into the top-right corner.
Boca doubled its lead on the half hour when Lanus goalkeeper Nahuel Losada palmed away Tomas Aranda's cross only for Merentiel to head in the rebound.
Merentiel put the result beyond doubt in the 64th minute, running onto Leandro Paredes' through ball and lifting a shot over Losada.
Boca, which had failed to win in four league outings dating back to February 1, is now sixth in Group A with 12 points from eight games, three ahead of 10th-placed Lanus. Enditem
