JERUSALEM -- The Israeli military said it began a new "wide-scale wave of strikes" on Iran early on Thursday, minutes after alarms were activated across Israel warning of missile attacks from Iran.

Residents in Tel Aviv reported loud blasts as Israel's state-owned Kan TV news said debris hit several locations in the area. The country's rescue service, Magen David Adom, said its teams were on their way to search for possible injuries at sites where missile hits or fragments had been reported.

The attacks followed large-scale Israeli airstrikes on Beirut's southern suburbs on Wednesday night, while Hezbollah targeted northern Israel for hours with rocket barrages. (Israel-Iran-Strikes)

BEIRUT -- At least 17 people were injured in Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple areas in Beirut's southern suburbs, Lebanon's Health Ministry reported Wednesday.

In retaliation, Hezbollah started the "Al-Asf Al-Ma'koul" operations, launching rockets intensively toward northern Israel, according to Lebanon's National News Agency.

The group said it launched rocket salvos at multiple Israeli military sites, including the Northern Command headquarters at the Dado base, the Ein Zeitim base, and targets near Safed, Kiryat Shmona, Nahariyya, Haifa, and Lake Tiberias. (Lebanon-Israel-Strikes)

BERLIN -- Around 18,000 residents were allowed to return to their homes in Dresden on Wednesday after a World War II bomb discovered near the city center was successfully defused, according to local police.

Police issued the evacuation order late Tuesday, establishing a security zone with a radius of about 1,000 meters around the site along the Elbe River, where the bomb was discovered during surveys for the planned reconstruction of the Carola Bridge.

Several major landmarks were located within the restricted area, including the Dresden Castle, the Semperoper, and the Frauenkirche, as well as government buildings, nursing homes, and daycare centers. (Germany-Bomb)

WASHINGTON -- An ongoing military investigation has preliminarily determined that a U.S. Tomahawk missile strike on an Iranian elementary school that killed over 160 people, mostly pupils, resulted from a targeting error, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

Officials briefed on the investigation told the newspaper that officers at the U.S. Central Command generated the strike coordinates using outdated intelligence provided by the Defense Intelligence Agency, leading to the targeting mistake.

The findings are preliminary, and key questions remain unresolved, including why the outdated information was not double-checked, officials quoted by the newspaper said. (US-Iran-School-Strike) Enditem
