ABU DHABI, April 10 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates announced Friday that it will host the 2029 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE, said the successful bid underscores the country's growing role in global finance and the international community's trust in its economic strength and governance.
Hosting the meetings is in line with the UAE's strategy to strengthen international partnerships and support global economic stability, he said, adding that the event will serve as an important platform for financial and economic dialogue
The annual meetings are among the world's most significant economic gatherings, bringing together finance ministers, central bank governors and policymakers from over 190 countries to discuss global growth, financial stability and sustainable development.
Analysts said hosting the event will enhance the UAE's role in global economic governance and consolidate its status as a platform for international cooperation. Enditem
