ALMATY, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Industrial production in Kazakhstan totaled 15.18 trillion tenge (about 32.19 billion U.S. dollars) in January-March 2026, down 0.7 percent year on year, the country's Bureau of National Statistics said Friday.

The decline was mainly driven by a downturn in the mining and quarrying sector, where output fell by 11.4 percent to 6.25 trillion tenge (around 13.25 billion dollars), according to the bureau.

The drop in mining and quarrying was attributed to drops in crude oil production by 19.8 percent, natural gas output by 20 percent, and the extraction of other minerals by 15.1 percent.

Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector expanded by 8.5 percent to a value of 7.56 trillion tenge (about 16 billion dollars). Enditem
