ISLAMABAD, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday, reaffirming Pakistan's firm commitment to regional peace and security, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.

During the conversation, the two leaders exchanged detailed views on the current regional situation and ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability, the statement added.

Sharif said that Pakistan would continue its efforts to promote regional peace and security, according to the statement.

The prime minister appreciated the participation of a high-level Iranian delegation in talks held in Islamabad on April 11 and 12, and welcomed Iran's decision to send another delegation led by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, which held important meetings in the Pakistani capital earlier in the day.

He also shared an overview of his recent diplomatic outreach to several world leaders, noting that these engagements had helped build a broader consensus in support of sustained dialogue and diplomacy aimed at achieving lasting peace in the conflict-affected region.

For his part, Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Pakistan's contributions to ongoing peace efforts, the statement added. Enditem
