ALMATY, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to transform 44 percent of the labor market in Kazakhstan by 2035, affecting around 4 million people, a senior lawmaker was quoted by the Kazinform news agency as saying on Monday.

Forty-six occupations employing about 362,000 people, or 4 percent of the country's total workforce, are projected to face declining demand, while 14 professions, accounting for 49,000 workers, will disappear entirely, Dania Espaeva, deputy chairwoman of the lower house of the Kazakh parliament, told a parliament meeting, citing the Ministry of Labor.

However, Espaeva noted that demand will rise significantly for expertise emerging at the intersection of AI and various economic sectors in the coming years.

Rapid AI adoption in key economic sectors requires a higher education system to train specialists capable of working in a digitalized and automated environment, Espaeva said, adding that expanded access to higher education and stronger government investment have supported the shift. Enditem
