COLOMBO, April 28 (Xinhua) -- At least 34 schoolchildren were hospitalized on Tuesday after a privately owned bus transporting them to schools in Sri Lanka's Central Province met with an accident, the police said.
The accident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. local time, the police said.
The bus suffered a sudden braking system failure, and the driver then steered the vehicle into an embankment along the main road to stop it, the police said.
The injured students were admitted to regional hospitals, the police said, adding that further investigation into the accident is being conducted. Enditem
