DAMASCUS -- Israeli forces detonated hundreds of land mines and carried out demolitions of buildings, including historical sites, in Syria's Quneitra province in recent days, a war monitor said Wednesday, as the United Nations (UN) warned of mounting concerns over the impact on civilians in southern Syria.

BEIRUT -- Nearly one in four people in Lebanon are expected to face acute food insecurity between April and August, according to a report released on Wednesday by the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture in cooperation with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP).
