BISHKEK, May 2 (Xinhua) -- The International Issyk-Kul Marathon of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), titled "Run the Silk Road," was held on Saturday in the town of Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
More than 3,000 participants from 23 countries and regions took part in the event, which featured a full marathon, half marathon, 10km and 3km races, 10km Nordic walking, and a children's race.
"The Issyk-Kul Marathon has gained international recognition, with many participants returning year after year. I believe that thanks to this event, all of you have come to know each other better and built friendships," Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Ulan Mamatkanov said in his opening remarks.
The International Issyk-Kul Marathon is a traditional event held within the SCO framework, contributing to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and strengthening friendship and mutual understanding among the peoples of member states. Enditem
