JERUSALEM -- An Israeli court on Sunday extended by two days the detention of two activists from a Gaza-bound flotilla intercepted last week by the Israeli navy in international waters near Greece, court officials said.
The two, Thiago Avila from Brazil and Saif Abu Keshek from Spain, were among about 170 people on board the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla's boats. They are the only two transferred to Israel, as the rest of the activists were taken to the Greek island of Crete. (Israel-Flotilla-Activists)

BEIRUT -- At least eight people were killed and 11 others injured Sunday in a series of Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese official sources.

CAIRO -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and visiting Syrian foreign affairs chief Asaad al-Shibani held talks in Cairo on Sunday to discuss rapid regional developments, including the trajectory of U.S.-Iranian negotiations and efforts to de-escalate regional tensions.
