KABUL, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities began construction of the first-ever agricultural complex in southern Afghanistan's Zabul province on Thursday, reported the official Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) on Friday.

The project, at a cost of 100 million afghani (around 1.6 million U.S. dollars), was managed and constructed by a local private investor on 307 acres of land in Shahjoy district, RTA said, adding that job opportunities would be created for 500 people with the completion of the essential complex in the underdeveloped province.

The Afghan government has vowed to continue to support the private sector to invest in the post-war nation and contribute to the rebuilding process of the country. Enditem
