SHANGHAI, May 17 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing Ducks beat the Shanghai Sharks 99-88 here on Sunday to level it at 1-1 in the best-of-five semifinals of the 2025-26 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) League.
Chen Yingjun notched 26 points and four rebounds, and Eugene German added 22 points and six assists as the Ducks claimed the well-deserved victory. Zhao Rui, Zhou Qi and Zeng Fanbo had 15, 11 and 10 points for Beijing, respectively.
"I am pleased that our players adjusted quickly enough after the loss two days ago," said Beijing head coach Xu Limin. "We weren't as determined as Shanghai in the last game, and we struggled with rebounding, which allowed them many fast-break opportunities. We knew we had a chance to win if we improved in those areas. Fortunately, we did improve and secured the victory today."
It was hotly contested in the first two quarters with the two sides fighting to a 42-all tie at halftime. The Ducks outscored the Sharks 30-21 in the third quarter and opened the fourth with an 11-2 burst for a comfortable 83-65 cushion with eight minutes and 16 seconds remaining. The Sharks managed to cut it to 95-85 with 48 seconds left, but that's as close as they could get.
Beijing shot 14-for-28 from beyond the arc, compared to 9-for-35 for the Sharks, who were led by Brandon Goodwin's 32 points.
Game 3 will be played in Beijing on Wednesday.
"These series will be really close and tough, and we will get well-prepared for the challenge when we get back home," Xu added. Enditem
