TEHRAN -- Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency reported on Sunday the United States has put forward "maximalist" conditions in response to Tehran's latest peace proposal, refusing to offer any "tangible" concession.

ABU DHABI -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Defense said Sunday its air defense systems intercepted three drones that entered UAE airspace from the western border area.
The ministry said two of the drones were successfully intercepted, while the third struck an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the Al Dhafra region. (UAE-Drones-Interception)

JERUSALEM -- The Israeli military said on Sunday it had killed Bahaa Baroud, a commander in Hamas' operations headquarters, in the Gaza Strip.

ABUJA -- At least 17 police officers were killed in an attack by suspected terrorists on a military training facility in Nigeria's northeastern Yobe State earlier this month, an official said on Saturday.

WELLINGTON -- Two people were killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday morning in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, police said.
