VIENTIANE, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Laos' Ministry of Health reviewed and discussed measures to strengthen healthcare standards nationwide, as improving and upgrading hospital service standards at both the central and local levels remains one of the ministry's urgent priorities.

The Lao Ministry of Health is strengthening healthcare standards nationwide by approving a revised draft policy on quality accreditation for health services, known as the "5 Goods, 1 Satisfaction" policy, according to a report released Monday by the Center of Information and Education for Health under the ministry.

Introduced in 2016, the policy serves as a framework for improving healthcare facilities across the country. Officials said the revised version aims to make the policy more concise and practical, with clearer indicators for implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

The ministry is also advancing plans to transform public hospitals into self-governing entities to improve service quality, use resources more efficiently, and attract more patients. Enditem
