SEOUL, May 22 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's farm household income hit a record high last year, thanks to a double-digit growth in agricultural income, statistical ministry data showed Friday.
The annual average income of farm households rose 8.0 percent over the year to reach an all-time high of 54,667,000 won (36,240 U.S. dollars) in 2025 after decreasing 0.5 percent in the previous year, according to the Ministry of Data and Statistics.
Agricultural income through crop cultivation and livestock farming advanced 22.3 percent to 11,707,000 won due to a faster increase in gross agricultural return than agricultural expenditures.
Non-agricultural income, including non-farm business income, declined 2.5 percent, while transfer and non-current incomes expanded 9.1 percent and 30.1 percent each.
The average asset of farm households increased 7.6 percent from a year earlier to 662,852,000 won at the end of 2025, and their average debt gained 6.0 percent to 47,713,000 won.
The annual average income of fishery households slid 7.3 percent to 58,980,000 won in 2025 compared to the previous year.
Fishing income dropped 31.6 percent, but non-fishery income from second jobs and other businesses swelled 12.2 percent.
The average asset of fishery households climbed 2.6 percent to 547,762,000 won, while their average debt inched down 0.1 percent to 70,761,000 won. (1 won equals 0.00066 U.S. dollars) Enditem
