MANILA, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Tourism direct gross value added (TDGVA) accounted for 8.1 percent of the Philippine economy in 2025, according to the data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority on Thursday.
TDGVA, which measures the gross value added generated by all industries of the economy that directly provide goods and services to visitors, totaled 2.27 trillion pesos (about 36.9 billion U.S. dollars) in 2025, down 1.4 percent from 2.3 trillion pesos in 2024.
Employment in tourism industries rose 2.5 percent to 7.7 million workers in 2025 from 7.51 million in 2024. Tourism-related jobs accounted for 15.7 percent of total employment in the country. Enditem
