YEREVAN, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Armenian investigators have identified a suspect allegedly involved in preparing an assassination attempt against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, local media reported on Monday.
The announcement follows an ongoing criminal investigation launched after a video circulated online in May showing a group of masked and armed individuals issuing threats against Pashinyan.
According to the investigators, extensive investigative measures, including multiple searches and interviews with witnesses, led authorities to identify a suspect known by the initials M.M., who has been living abroad since 2024.
Investigators said they had obtained evidence suggesting that M.M., acting with at least four other individuals, was involved in preparations to assassinate Pashinyan.
A detention order has been issued for the identified suspect, local media said. Enditem
