BEIRUT -- Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said Thursday that a ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel could take effect within 24 hours once final approval is secured, while Israeli strikes across southern Lebanon continued from Wednesday night into Thursday, killing three people and wounding at least nine others.
Aoun said he had been in contact with international and domestic parties since 2:00 a.m. local time (2300 GMT Wednesday) to help consolidate the ceasefire, according to remarks carried by El Nashra, a local news website.

TEHRAN -- Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei on Thursday called on the country's people to maintain unity and solidarity in the face of the "enemy's" hybrid warfare.
Khamenei made the remarks in a message carried by Iranian media on the 37th passing anniversary of the late founder of Iran's Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, and the religious holiday of Eid al-Ghadir.

BEIRUT -- Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said on Thursday that resistance against Israel will continue and Israeli settlements will remain unsafe as long as the occupation and attacks on Lebanese territory persist.
"We are concerned only with a comprehensive end to the aggression, a ceasefire, and Israel's withdrawal. As long as the occupation exists, the resistance will continue," Qassem said in a televised speech. (Lebanon-Hezbollah-Israel)

TRIPOLI -- The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on Thursday denied allegations that migrants are being resettled in Libya under UN programs, describing such claims as "completely false."
UNSMIL made the statement after hundreds of Libyan protesters shut down the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Tripoli on Thursday, citing concerns over what they described as the "settlement" of irregular migrants inside the country, according to local media reports and eyewitnesses.
