KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's crude oil and condensate production fell 5.5 percent year on year to 43 million barrels in the first quarter of 2026, official data showed Friday.
This decline was influenced by crude oil production, which continued to register a contraction of 9.4 percent, with production decreasing to 28.1 million barrels, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.
Nevertheless, condensate production showed a growth of 3 percent to 14.9 million barrels.
Meanwhile, natural gas recorded a production of 765.8 billion cubic feet, a declining by 2.1 percent year on year.
According to the DOSM, the export value of crude oil and condensate decreased to 5.2 billion ringgit (1.29 billion U.S dollars) in the first quarter, compared to 6.1 billion ringgit recorded in the previous quarter.
This decline was in line with exports of refined petroleum products, which also registered a marginal decrease to 22.9 billion ringgit compared to 23.9 billion ringgit in the preceding quarter.
At the same time, exports of liquefied natural gas recorded a decline to 12.9 billion ringgit compared to 13.6 billion ringgit. (1 ringgit equals 0.25 U.S. dollars) Enditem
