TEHRAN, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday submitted here a written message from Pakistani leaders addressed to Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei to Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

The two ministers met in the Iranian capital one day after Naqvi's arrival in Tehran for talks with Iranian officials, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

During the meeting, Araghchi and Naqvi discussed the bilateral ties and the latest situation of the ongoing diplomatic process mediated by Pakistan to end the regional conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, the report said.

According to Fars, on Saturday, Naqvi met his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni, following which he said his visit to Iran was aimed at submitting a "special letter" from Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Iran's supreme leader.

Pakistan has been mediating peace negotiations between Iran and the United States since a ceasefire took effect between the warring parties on April 8 after 40 days of fighting.

Despite the recent clashes, Iran and the United States have, during the past weeks, reportedly exchanged several proposed plans outlining conditions for peace through Pakistan's mediation, and are working to finalize a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war. Enditem
