CAIRO/DOHA, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met in Cairo on Sunday to discuss the Iranian crisis and the Palestinian issue.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the progress of U.S.-Iran talks and the joint efforts exerted by Egypt and Qatar to support the negotiation, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministers also stressed the need for consensus to de-escalate tensions, end the war, and restore regional security and stability.

On the Palestinian issue, both called for implementing the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire plan, including delivering humanitarian aid, rehabilitating infrastructure and hospitals, and ensuring a gradual Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

They also stressed the need to enable the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to exercise its temporary duties from within the Gaza Strip and to deploy an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire.

Also on Sunday, Qatar's Civil Aviation Authority dismissed reports claiming that the country's airspace had been closed or that flight operations had been suspended. Enditem
