BOGOTA -- Colombian officials and lawmakers on Wednesday rejected reports that President Gustavo Petro had been temporarily suspended, saying the congressional body cited in the document lacks authority to remove him from office and that the alleged order has no legal effect.

NEW YORK -- The U.S. consumer price index (CPI) rose 4.2 percent year on year in May, marking its highest level since May 2023, as energy prices remained high, according to data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Wednesday.

Notably, the energy index for May increased 3.9 percent month on month, accounting for over 60 percent of headline inflation.

JAKARTA -- Indonesia's National Narcotics Agency (BNN) said on Wednesday it detained 10 Indonesian nationals who tested positive for drugs after arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten province.
